The UAE government has invested USD 15 billion in building Masdar City, a low-carbon eco-city near Abu Dhabi International Airport. It will cover an area of 6 km² and will be home to 50,000 people after it is fully built.
The city is powered by renewable energy sources, including solar panels and wind turbines. And its buildings are designed to be highly energy efficient, with an increased focus on natural ventilation and cooling. Masdar City is designed to be a sustainable urban living model with zero carbon emissions and zero waste.
